Summer. It’s full of cookouts, late nights, friends, vacations, long walks, concerts, fireworks and dreaming under the stars. It is such an exciting season and for me it’s a time to grow in the warmth spiritually, personally and in my business. It means painting more, doing a ton of weddings and shoots, putting together styled shoots, making new recipes, cultivating meaningful relationships, just to simply create (which is my word for 2015).

I want to be intentional about making the most of every season. So that’s why I loveloveloved the sermon my pastor spoke about not to long ago (you can listen to it , here). It was all about “DO SUMMER”. He talked about how June is like our second January. Now if y’all don’t know, New Years day is one of my top 3 favorite holidays because it means a fresh start. New goals. New dreams. So when he started preaching about the fact that I get a second January I was all in and my heart was so beyond excited for a fresh start!

Now we all know that when summer comes our lives tend to be more chaotic. Our rhythm changes, we become busier and in turn we are trying to do it all – squeeze every last-minute out of a day. But what if we went into summer – Beginning with the end in mind? There is always an ending to every season. What do you want your summer to look like at the end?

So our pastor gave us a challenge. Take 15 minutes out of every day and be intentional. Now is a great time to pick up that one goal you left back in January. Or try something new. These were the questions he asked us to help figure out what that one thing is :

  1. // Is there an area of you life where you need more discipline?
  2. // Is there a fear you need to face?
  3. // Is there a desire that needs to be awakened?

Maybe yours is journaling every day for 15 minutes, or exercising. Maybe it’s taking the leap to following what you’re truly passionate about or facing whatever your fear may look like. Maybe it’s a relationship you need to work on for 15 minutes every day. Whatever it is be intentional and stick to it.

So starting today because yesterday was the first official day of summer – pick something and take 15 minutes out of every day and do it till September 7, 2015. So you have 78 days to learn a new skill, face your fear – whatever it is. Make it happen.

I really wanted to do this in the most important parts of my life – Spiritual, Personal, and Business. I know, I know.. I was only supposed to choose one but I guess I’m just an overachiever (not really) but here are mine :

Spiritual // Pray

Personal // Write my book

Business // Fear of not being good enough/failure

I would love to go on this journey together. Please leave a comment and let me know what you are doing to make this a season of growth!

Happy growing, friends!

PS – Here is a beautiful scripture all about change!

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
